The Music
Fragments, Jordan Nobles
|
Orbiting in the Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter are multifarious objects ranging in size from dwarf planets down to dust particles. Once thought to be remnants of a destroyed planet, these asteroids inspired Jordan Nobles’ piano miniatures Fragments. In a nod to serialism, the pieces all employ the same 60-note sequence, but cycle through the twelve major keys instead of the twelve notes of the chromatic. From this set of a dozen miniatures, to be performed in any number, in any order, five were extracted for the Cosmophony project. Each piece is named after a real asteroid. | ||
