The Music

Jupiter,Christopher Kovarik

Jupiter

To evoke the largest of the planets and the supreme god of the Roman pantheon, Christopher Kovarik turned to the titans of Western music. After a grandiose introduction, his Jupiterbegins with a passacaglia in the style of Rameau, and proceeds in a postmodern romp through music history, referencing the music of Bach, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev. It culminates in a roaring climax invoking the god of thunder, with a nod to John Williams.
